Mahindra XUV300

Mahindra XUV300 1.2 Petrol Long-Term Review.

As a marketing manager with the opportunity to experience various cars throughout the year, my current long-term companion is the Mahindra XUV300 1.2 petrol. While I may not be a seasoned car journalist, I bring you insights from a real-world perspective.

The first striking feature of the Mahindra XUV300 is its captivating blend of SUV and sporty aesthetics. Beyond its attractive appearance, the interior space caught my attention immediately. The cabin offers generous room for both the driver and passengers, creating the illusion of being inside a larger vehicle. Ample leg and headroom for both front and rear occupants contribute to a comfortable travel experience.

However, the additional interior space comes at the expense of the boot, which, admittedly, is relatively small for the overall interior size. This makes it more suitable for a family of three rather than a family of four (my opinion). Despite the compact boot, it can still accommodate two medium airline-sized bags or four 25-liter water refill bottles.

Upon settling into any new car, the first tasks involve adjusting seats, mirrors, and ensuring seamless connectivity. The Mahindra XUV300 excels in this aspect, featuring easy seat and mirror adjustments alongside comprehensive phone connectivity options. With Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on the radio, my Spotify playlists and Google Maps seamlessly integrate into the driving experience.

One pretty cool thing is my son found out he can watch his favourite YouTube channel on the radio screen, which for him was cool, not so much for me, but if he is happy I’m happy.

While I won't delve into the technical specifications, you can find detailed information at https://bbgroup.co.za/mahindra/vehicles/xuv-300/ .Notably, the XUV300 stands out by offering the flexibility to adjust the steering wheel's firmness, with options for comfort, normal, and sport. I settled on the normal setting, finding it to strike the right balance for everyday driving.

Now, let's talk about the driving experience. The engine performance is truly impressive, delivering ample power and torque consistently. Even at highway speeds in 6th gear, the engine handles hills with ease and always wants to accelerate. Fuel consumption is very good, the best I managed to get was 17.2km per litre, but on average I was around 15.5km per litre.

Remarkably, road noise is well-contained, contributing to a quiet interior ambience.

In conclusion, should you buy the Mahindra XUV300? The answer is simple: conduct thorough research to match your needs and lifestyle.

I highly recommend placing this vehicle at the top of your car shopping list, given its compelling blend of style, functionality, and powerful driving experience.
